Annual Donation Supports Student Bot Building

For the sixth year in a row, our customers and National Tooling & Machining Association (NTMA) members helped raise funds to benefit the National Robotics League (NRL). The $4,420 donation was a 2 percent match of qualified orders from NTMA member companies during the last two months of the year. Manufacturers stocked up on cutting tools, tool holders, workholding and tool measurement systems from BIG DAISHOWA, and raised funds for the NRL at the same time.  

The NRL is a manufacturing workforce development program of the NTMA that organizes student teams to design and build remote-controlled bots that face-off in a gladiator-style competition. While building robots, kids gain practical knowledge of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) skills – all essential for manufacturing careers. 

“We’re not just fighting a skills gap in our workforce, we have an interest gap too. The NRL helps create excitement about manufacturing technology and STEM careers,” says Roger Atkins, president at NTMA. “We appreciate BIG DAISHOWA’s continued support year over year, and of course all of the NTMA members who participate in the program to support the NRL.”
