Andretti Autosport team takes Indy 500 win

The 101st edition of the Indianapolis 500 (Indy 500) took place on May 28, 2017. Takuma Sato, a professional IndyCar Series driver and member of the Andretti Autosport team, crossed the finish line first becoming the 69th winner by a margin of .2011 of a second. Sato became the first Japanese driver to win the Indy 500.

Andretti Autosport, a BIG KAISER technology partner, had six drivers participating in the race and this win brings them to a total of five Indy 500 wins. BIG KAISER provides Andretti Autosport with manufacturing process expertise and technical products including tool holders, tool measuring systems and boring tools for CNC machines.

We extended our partnership with Andretti Autosport through 2017 and introduced new workholding products to the team’s shop. The Unilock modular workholding system, which is offered exclusively by BIG KAISER, has helped their team reduce machine setup times while increasing accuracy and repeatability. The system is easily adapted to existing pallets, fixtures and workpieces. In this industry, creating and improving car parts quickly is essential and plays a role in what is seen on the race track.

We are very excited for Takuma Sato and Andretti on their Indy 500 win. Through our partnership, we will continue to bring our most advanced technology to Andretti Autosport as well as provide the best service to their team.
