BIG KAISER Supports Workforce Development
As Manufacturing Day approaches, BIG KAISER continues its efforts as a supporter of workforce and career development.
BIG KAISER is a sponsor of the Golden Corridor Advanced Manufacturing Partnership (GCamp), an organization dedicated to education of high school students in advanced manufacturing through collaborative efforts with manufacturing companies.
One program both organizations support is the Illinois Energy Efficient Vehicle Competition (IEEVC), which is designed to promote manufacturing education and technology-related careers to high school students. The IEEVC gives high school students an opportunity to put their STEM lessons into practice. As part of the competition, students design, build and test a small one-person vehicle with a focus on gasoline mileage.
The winning students were BIG KAISER’s guests in Indianapolis this past spring for a visit to the Andretti Autosport facility, a tour of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum and time trials for the Indianapolis 500.
Additional support of workforce development and STEM programs from BIG KAISER has included donations to the National Tooling and Machining Association’s National Robotics League (NRL) program. Through the manufacturing process, students in the NRL design, machine, build, test and repair a 15-pound combat bot.
