New Micro Engravers—Building on an Already Sterling Reputation
In a move to expand BIG KAISER’s existing carbide cutting tool lineup of pilot/spotting drills, high-performance drills, deep-hole drills, drill reamers and micro end mills, BIG KAISER looked to one of its global partners to introduce new micro engraving cutters.
The solid carbide cutters, developed and built by Sphinx (Switzerland), are engineered with a sharp, positive cutting geometry to achieve burr-free surface finishes and smooth transitions in every cut. This expands on Sphinx’s micro tooling expertise, which is highlighted by its renowned line of micro drills, also available exclusively in North America from BIG KAISER.
The new micro engraving cutters—available in a variety of options, including 30-, 40-, 50-, 60- and 90-degree angles—come standard with a Ø3mm shank and either flat or radius tipped point geometries.
The radius cutters range from .0016″-.0039″ (.04mm-.10mm), and flat cutters range from .0008”-.0059” (.02mm-.15mm). They work for a range of applications, including engraving text onto parts made from a wide variety of materials—including alloyed and unalloyed steels, thermosetting plastics and even titanium.
